El giro a la izquierda en los parlamentos latinoamericanos: ¿cuándo y cómo se dio?

Abstract

En las últimas décadas en América Latina se ha vivido un proceso de giro a la izquierda, y parece que ahora estuviera confirmándose un giro a la derecha en la región. No obstante, el análisis de dichos giros se ha centrado sobre todo en las presidencias, obviando la situación de los legislativos. En este artículo se atiende al supuesto giro a la izquierda en los parlamentos latinoamericanos, con el propósito de identificar cuándo se dio ese giro, si es que efectivamente llegó a tener lugar en toda la región. Lo anterior se realiza a través del análisis de las actitudes y preferencias de los legisladores en los últimos veinte años de cambio político.

In recent decades, Latin America has gone through a left turn, and nowadays it looks as if there is a right turn. Nevertheless, the analysis of these turns has been focused on presidencies, leaving out the situation of Legislative Powers. In this work we pay attention to the alleged turn to the left in Latin American Parliaments, with the purpose of identifying when this turn occurred, and if it took place all over the region. In that sense, we consider the attitudes and preferences of deputies during the last twenty years of political change.
