The aim of this paper is to create a detailed and realistic model of electric system operations that can accurately reflect the impact of wind generation. This work has three aims: to accurately quantify the cost of accommodating wind resources in Mexico, to suggest an optimal dispatch strategy for a Mexican system with high wind penetration, and to provide a more accurate basis for long-term transmission and generation planning models.
