In what follows I will analyse party-executive relations in terms of the role that party and executive have played in the recruitment process of some of the main institutions of government and of the party that has sustained it. Through this analysis I aim to show that Mexico falls very near the pole of executive dominance and that through its control over the nomination and selection process for elective and non-elective positions the President has been able to count on a disciplined party that recognises the head of the executive branch as the real leader of the party.
